Top Vegan Burgers of 2019
If you’re like me and you are always on the hunt for a great vegan burger, then you need to try out this list! Tokyo is home to some of the best veggie burgers I have ever tasted, and I would gladly spend my weekends hopping around any of these wonderous restaurants. Beware, this post may make you hungry!
First on the list is my beloved Cori Vegan Restaurant’s soy chicken namban burger. It is as big as it is tasty, and each bite is more flavorful than the next. With fluffy buns, crispy sauced soy chicken, grilled onions, and a special sauce, good luck ever forgetting about this burger. You will definitely end up a bit messy, but it is worth it for the holy grail of Tokyo vegan burgers. The interior of the restaurant is modern, hip, and spacious as well, so it would be great for a party. They also have draft vegan beer on tap which serves as a tasty treat along with the burger.
To get to Cori, take the Den-en-Toshi line from Shibuya to Komaza-daigaku which is only a short three-minute walk to the restaurant.
Next comes the top-rated vegan burger from Ain Soph Ripple. No doubt if you have googled vegan Japan, this place has come up. It is an all-around fan favorite, and it is clear why. Everything the shop sells is vegan from burgers and crispy chicken sandwiches to mac and cheese and chili fries. My favorite would probably have to be the crispy chicken sandwich, but the cheeseburger with avocado is a close second. The food always tastes very fresh and is a staple of the vegan food scene here in Tokyo.
Ripple is easily accessible from either Shinjuku station (12-minute walk) or from Shin Okubo (8-minute walk).
Another place which is a must for vegan burgers is none other than Olu Olu Cafe. If you have read some other posts, you know that I consistently sing praises of the lovely Olu Olu Cafe. It really can do no wrong which is hard to accomplish with such an expansive menu. Their burgers certainly top the list though with a range such as Hawaiin Mochiko burger, garlic and herb chicken burger, and spicy burger. Everything is cooked with such care and love, you will definitely leave satisfied! Also, try their french fries with the burgers, they are covered in a nice light seasoning and perfectly crispy.
Olu Olu Cafe can be accessed from either bus 12,5,21,22,23,31,32,24 from Shibuya or walking from Ikejiri-Ohashi on the Den-en-Toshi line.
Veganic to Go is a small, vegan restaurant located in Roppongi area. I find Veganic to Go quite nice every time I have visited and it has a large menu as well. The burgers are unique, flavorful, and health-focused. If there was one tiny thing I would mention, it is that the burger is overwhelmingly large, making it pretty difficult to eat. To me, this is not a deal-breaker. I do not mind in the slightest getting a bit messy when it comes to good food. But I could see how others would not necessarily enjoy their food when it means you have to eat your burger in parts. I would recommend the tartar fish burger here, as it shockingly tastes just like a fish fillet.
You can find Veganic to Go easily from Nogizaka station or Roppongi station.
I hope you enjoyed this list of my favorite vegan burgers! Have you eaten any burger in Japan? Which is your favorite?
Happy eating! ????
