Vegan-Friendly Restaurants For Mixed Groups

One of the hardest parts of the vegan life is not being able to get a huge mixed group of vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores together in one place for a meal. Personally, I know it is something that I always stress over: finding a place that is tasty and fits everyone’s food choices. After much searching, I have found some go-to places that friends, family, and I can all enjoy together, regardless of what we choose to eat! Here are some of my favorites so far.

Blu Jam Cafe

Blu Jam is a large, American-styled restaurant located in the trendy and fancy neighborhood of Daikanyama, a mere fifteen-minute walk from Shibuya. I love coming here for events or large parties just as much as going for a small get-together. They are really accomodating with large groups, so it is definitely at the top of the list when planning an event. It is also one of the few places I would say is a good “brunch” spot in Tokyo. They have an extensive menu, with many vegan options. The portions are also very big, a rarity in Japan! My favorite meals to have here are the vegan Ruben and the huevos rancheros.

Cosme Kitchen Adaption

Cosme Kitchen Adaption has a few restaurants in locations such as Ebisu and Omotesando. This is a health-focused chain that offers a variety of vegan and gluten plates. I took my celiac sister there when she visited, and she definitely approved! My favorite of the options that I have tried is the fish filet burger. It is fried nice and crispy and the inside is flaky, very similar to actual fish texture. Definitely do not pass up on the vegan parfait either! They have a wonderful looking afternoon tea set that has a vegan menu that I will be sure to try soon.

Los Barbados

Los Barbados is an eclectic mix of Turkish/Caribbean/central-African cuisine restaurant that is so cosy and quaint. It is located in Shibuya, and it really is just the perfect spot for a date or small group. It is not large, and you should really make sure to call ahead to get a reservation. The food is worth it though, trust me! I usually order the couscous lasagna and the sharing plate (comes with hummus and falafel), but I am very keen to try the set menu!

Tsurushiko

Tsurushiko is a cold ramen noodle shop about ten minutes from Shibuya station. It has about 7 or 8 vegan ramen options, and even features a vegan karaage! They only use cold ramen noodles, but they also make hot ramen as well. My top choice is the tomato & basil ramen or the creamy soy milk soup. The owners are super nice and welcoming, and I am looking forward to achieving my goal of trying all the vegan ramen options they have!

Mr. Farmer

Mr. Farmer is another health-focus chain with a few locations in Tokyo such as Omotesando, Hibiya and Shinjuku. It has quite a few vegan entrees and lots of salad options. To be quite honest, the Omotesando location always seems to fall short for me. The Shinjuku one I used to frequent a lot, so I would probably choose that one if I had to. I really enjoyed the veggie burger and the loco moco each time I ordered it. They also seem to actively try updating their vegan menu. Overall, this spot is a really good environment for a group get-together.

Where is your favorite place to take a big mixed group? Have you tried any of these lovely places? Let us know in the comments! Happy eating! ????
